Yacht Race
THE YACHT RACE
Rastus levered the boat away from the wharf. There were 16 energetic kids aboard the Casteaux. We steamed out past Leask Bay to the starting buoy. There was a floating fleet of fishing boats farewelling the astonishingly crazy yachties. The start of the third leg to Napier had began!!!!!!

Athletics
I felt excited that I was lining up for my 800 meter sprint but I knew I was going to come last. As the starter gun went off I sped around the first bend. I could hear people cheering for me. It was awesome! I started to huff and puff around the second bend. As I passed Timu
and two other kids as well I knew I could at least come 7th. I passed two people in front of me as I sprinted across the finish line. I dropped to the ground relieved that it was over!!!!!

The Random Friend
I think the shirt was a bit tatty as well as the legs. I forgot to paper mache a nose
onto the face.
I love the top and the awesome beads that stand out!

Thunder Waves!
The huge wave towered high above the boat. It sped across the astonishingly big wave and went straight into the powerful cool air. The boat crashed back into the rolling safe sea as I sighed with relief!

PETER PAN!
Peter Pan!
“I can do this I can do this!” I said to myself. When I ran out on stage I felt scared to my stomach with butterflies. So there I was sitting with the Indian warriors by the fire warming ourselves while princess Tiger Lily was showing the Indians the dance. It felt soooo good to be on stage with an amazing audience. The warriors dance strongly off stage behind Tiger Lily “woo, woo, woo”. The audience gave us a strong round of applause. It felt so good to get the play over and done with.”No more learning my lines, no more practicing and no more stage fright for 4 years! Its over for this amazing year.”Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Explanation Writing - The Water Cycle
This is how the water cycle works. The sun evaporates the water from the sea. The molecules turn into clouds. When the clouds have too much water then it turns into rain. Then it goes into ponds, lakes and sea and starts all over again.

Writing Together
WALT (We Are Learning To) make our writing more interesting!!
Jack, Angus, Leeym and Ms J wrote these two stories together focussing on making our writing interesting for our audience - YOU
Red helmet, black gloves, amazing BMX racing bike - now he's off to kick some butt!
The competitors are ready to rock and roll round the race track.
The gate is up. The riders are balancing...
Red Yellow Green
Bang! The gate crashes down.
The riders blast off down the gate ramp.
Storm helped out with this one too.
Zoom! Cicadas fly off like jets.
Their spiky toes will pinch you if you're not cunning - ow!
The larvae (baby cicadas) live underground for protection from bigger predators.
Bugs, creepy crawlies, beetles, insects - that's my family - I'm a cicada.
"Shush! Be quiet you'll scare me away."
When you are cicada hunting you have to be silent.
zzt, zzt, zzt, zzt, zzt, zzt, zzt, zzt...
