Writing Together

WALT (We Are Learning To) make our writing more interesting!!

Jack, Angus, Leeym and Ms J wrote these two stories together focussing on making our writing interesting for our audience - YOU

Red helmet, black gloves, amazing BMX racing bike - now he's off to kick some butt!
The competitors are ready to rock and roll round the race track.
The gate is up. The riders are balancing...
Red Yellow Green
Bang! The gate crashes down.
The riders blast off down the gate ramp.

Storm helped out with this one too.

Zoom! Cicadas fly off like jets.
Their spiky toes will pinch you if you're not cunning - ow!
The larvae (baby cicadas) live underground for protection from bigger predators.
Bugs, creepy crawlies, beetles, insects - that's my family - I'm a cicada.
"Shush! Be quiet you'll scare me away."
When you are cicada hunting you have to be silent.

MY FRIENDSHIP BRACELET

Tia made me a friendship bracelet. She spent all afternoon. It is very special to me. It is black and red. I was very surprised. We took Toby for a walk after that.

SHOCKING - THE RACING HORSE

The Melbourne cup was won by a horse
called Shocking. The horse galloped
over the finish line WHOOF! NO WONDER THEY
CALL HIM SHOCKING! He is as fast as a lightningbolt.
That horse could go a mile without any water!

MY BROTHER HEMI

Hemi is one and a half years old and I’m his older brother. It’s hard looking after Hemi. What does Hemi like doing with me? His favourite is dancing, he also likes running around playing tag. It wears me out! He can be quite cheeky and funny like when he lies on the wood with his snuggly as a pillow. It’s hard looking after Hemi!

SIROCCO

Last night the Stewart Island school kids and four year old Rugrats went to Ulva Island to see the famous Sirocco. His feathers are like camouflage: green, brown, white and black. He is a beautiful nocturnal parrot. At Ulva Sirocco stays in an enclosure. The Kakapo chomps on kumara, grapes, apple and nuts. Sirocco runs around with a sparkle in his eye. Sirocco was hand raised as a chick so he is imprinted (he thinks he’s a human).
